Onto™ is a proprietary coating technology that exploits a reactive type of molecule, controlling the reactivitiy so it can be conveniently and safely applied allowing the rapid and convenient modification of the surface properties of a wide range of materials.
Process
The process involves coating the required surface — whether in sheet, fabric, powder, pellet or other macro-molecular form — via dip or spray with a solution of the active agent, followed by curing under thermal or photoirradiation conditions. This generates a molecular layer bonded permanently to the base polymer (Figure 1).

The modification of the surface can be carried out to micron precision allowing the preparation of highly patterned materials. The ONTO process can also be applied to deliver two or more sets of functionalities to a surface. This can be achieved either homogenously or with patterning to create a material with channels or discrete areas of functionality (Figure 2)
