About Us

Oxford Advanced Surfaces Group Plc ("OAS") develops and commercialises advanced material solutions that are cost effective, simple to implement, and which deliver valuable changes to the functionality of all kinds of surfaces.

Founded in June 2006 by Dr. Mark Moloney and Dr. Jon-Paul Griffiths, Oxford Advanced Surfaces was a spin out from the Chemistry department at the University of Oxford, one of the largest chemistry research laboratories in the world. The initial development of the Onto® technology began over a decade ago at the University and it has continued and expanded through OAS.

The company is located at the Begbroke Science Park in Oxford where we have fully equipped laboratories both for initial material design and synthesis as well as applications and process development. We have a mix of solid industrial expertise and a dedicated team of chemists and material scientists delivering world class innovation with quality and speed.

While our flexible platform technology can be applied across a very broad range of markets, we focus on applications where technical proof of concept has been established and which deliver not only dramatic performance improvement but which do so with significantly improved economics for our customers. We believe these technologies make absolute sense in the current business environment and position us uniquely in the market place.

The company is developing advanced material solutions for a range of applications including:

  • Advanced Industrial Materials (adhesives, specialty fibres, laminates and composites)
  • Fast moving consumer goods including Ophthalmics
  • Electronics (PCB's, plastic electronics, solar cells, solid state lighting)
  • Displays for computers, TV's, phones and PDA's
